WELCOME TO PERICARE
Supporting perinatal emotional wellbeing and nurturing attachments for women and their partners during the perinatal period (pregnancy and after birth)
I am Liz Reid and I qualified as a Social Worker in 1990 with a Post-Graduate Diploma in Applied Social Studies from Swansea University and a BA (Hons) in Social Science. In 1998 I obtained a Post-Graduate Certificate in Non-Directive Play Therapy from the University of York, specializing in attachment theory and child development and I have a Post-Graduate Award in Perinatal and Infant Mental Health from the University of Warwick.
At Pericare, I provide a dedicated and independent Perinatal Emotional Wellbeing Consultancy supporting perinatal emotional wellbeing and nurturing attachments for women and their partners during the perinatal period.
I offer specialist assessments and counselling for individual women and their partners. My therapeutic approaches consist of my understanding of Perinatal Stress, Attachment-Based Counselling, Non-Directive Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Video-Interview Guidance, adopting a Holistic Family Approach and Working Systemically with other Agencies.
I have previous experience of setting up and managing a Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Service in the NHS for women with severe mental health difficulties. I am able to help with antenatal and postnatal depression and anxiety, birth trauma and difficulties adjusting to parenthood. I attend the North West Coast Strategic Clinical Network for Perinatal Mental Health.
I am approachable, empathic and compassionate. I provide a confidential service within the comfort of client’s homes in Lancashire, Craven, South Cumbria, Greater Manchester and Merseyside. I offer specialist training and consultation for professionals and their respective organisations across the UK and I tailor the training to meet their particular needs.
Please contact me regarding my fees, as I am able to reduce my fees for students and individuals on benefits. Also, there will be an additional cost for travelling further afield especially for training purposes.
I offer appointments during weekday evenings as well as throughout the day on Mondays, Tuesdays and Saturdays.
